I believe that we exist in a parallel universe composed of spiritual reality and shadow reality. Spiritual reality consists of the marriage of truth, beauty, and love with the primal life force. These are independent of earthly existence and transcend both time and space. Shadow reality consists of the reflected image of spiritual glory and includes all the manifestations we call “reality.” Earning a living, raising children, maintaining our body’s needs, and suffering and dying are among these shadow realities.
In truth, however, these activities merely symbolize our spirit life. For it is our spirit which is raising our children, through advancing and enlightening our being; it is our spirit which is taking care of the needs of our body by nurturing and cleansing our souls; it is our spirit which suffers and dies so that it may be purified and reborn free of its shadow one day.
Although intimately connected, the shadow and spirit realties are separate, two distinct poles of the life process. Like the double helix of the DNA molecule, our shadow and spirit beings are intricately woven into the tapestry of our parallel universe. The spirit, purified by the trials of earthly suffering, will fly to its one true home when our bodies die.
The pear tree outside my window, which is full of ripening fruit, is not really real. The senses with which I perceive the pear tree are contained in a body which is also not really real. What is real, however, is the life force which animates both the pear tree and me. That life force has its genesis in the spiritual realm of the parallel universe which we are all a part of. Originating in the spiritual, the life force is beyond space and time and represents true reality. The real purpose and meaning of life, in my opinion, is spiritual purification and advancement toward eternal happiness and love with this creative force, God.
